"How can we make this more ridiculous than it needs to be?"
Choice Provisions is a game developer that constantly pushes itself to ask, “How can we make this more ridiculous than it needs to be?” This mindset has led to the creation of beloved franchises that are steeped in the fun absurdities of gaming, and it’s time they had a studio brand identity that embodied their spirit.
OUR APPROACH AND SOLUTION
Before beginning design work on this identity, it was important for our team to immerse ourselves in who Choice Provisions is, and become fellow Embracers of The Ridiculous. Our team explored their pat games, got to know the Choice team and what drives them, and eventually fell in love with Commender Video, their long-time protagonist.
As we delved into designing their new identity, it was clear that it needed to balance nodding to their iconic history, and embracing their innate absurdity, all while maintaining a sense of simplicity and maturity befitting a quality, established studio.
With our core brand mark established and achieving the delicate balance we were aiming for, we looked to some expanded brand elements to help bring the absurdity to the table in a big way, to make that the beloved Choice Provisions DNA is alive and well.
And, in the end, our team delivered a clear and logical brand guide and toolkit to help bring just a little bit of order to the wackiness of this identity system.
We gave Skylight ideas and suggestions and in return they delivered a variety of original art and logo treatments that captured our brand identity in ways we never thought possible.
