The Second Trip is Twice as Nice
The first Outer Worlds delivered on some of our favorite things: satire, deep space adventures, amazing Obsidian storytelling, roleplaying, and a healthy parody of late-stage economic systems. We logged a lot of hours.
We were thrilled to have the opportunity to work closely with Obsidian and Xbox Games teams to develop the Vis-ID and Toolkit for Outer Worlds 2. We were even more excited as we learned more about the vision for the sequel, and how much the golden age of illustration would inform our solutions.
We worked closely with our partners to refine and optimize the logo so that it worked hard in deep space and aligned with the overall treatment of the Key Art.
Our key art is born from the same illustration style as the propaganda found throughout the game. Aligning on a poster style from the golden age of illustration quickly allowed us to center on the iconic Moonman in a conquering pose, surrounded by a scene full of easter eggs we knew players would love.
Keeping the key art iconic and stylized allowed us to create something modular and hard working across a range of touchpoints.
